Funeral director website design that families trust

Your website is often the first place a family turns when someone has died. They may be reading at three in the morning, on a phone, unsure what to do next. In that moment they are not looking for clever design. They are looking for reassurance, a phone number and a sense that you will take care of them.

We build websites for independent funeral directors across the UK. Family firms, single branch businesses and small groups that have earned their reputation over generations and want a website that shows it. Our founder, Andrew Redman, started in the profession at sixteen, so we know how a first call feels on both sides, and we design with that in mind.

Every site is designed around your firm, your people and your community. No templates, no stock photography of lilies at sunset, and nothing that looks like the firm down the road.

Funeral home website design UK families actually need

Most funeral websites were built years ago and have been patched ever since. Here is what we usually find, and what we put in its place.

A typical funeral website

  • The phone number is buried in the footer or hidden behind a menu.
  • Services are described in vague terms with no sense of what happens next.
  • Pages load slowly and break on a phone.
  • The price list is hard to find, or missing altogether.
  • A generic template that could belong to any firm.

What families need

  • A number they can tap from every page, and a clear way to reach you day or night.
  • Plain explanations of what you offer and what to expect after the first call.
  • A fast site built for phones first, because that is where most families start.
  • Your Standardised Price List one click from the homepage, clearly labelled.
  • Your own photography, your team and your history, presented with care.

Built to meet the CMA price display rules

Since the Funerals Market Investigation Order 2021, funeral directors must display certain price information clearly and prominently on their website. Every site we build is designed with these rules in mind from the start, rather than bolted on afterwards.

  • Your Standardised Price List as a separate PDF titled Standardised Price List, on a page no more than one click from your homepage.
  • A clearly labelled link on the homepage so families know exactly where it leads.
  • Space for your Additional Options Price List, local crematorium prices, terms of business and disclosure of interests.
  • A layout that keeps price information easy to find and easy to update.

You remain responsible for the content of your price list, but the website will make it simple to keep it current. For the full detail, read the CMA funeral price rules checklist.

How the process works

Most firms are live within six to eight weeks. We keep things moving without rushing the details that matter, and you will never be waiting on us for weeks between updates.

  1. A first conversation

We talk about your firm, your families and what your current site is or is not doing. No obligation and no jargon.

  2. Content and planning

We agree the pages, gather your photographs and wording, and plan where your price information will sit.

  3. Design

We design the site around your firm and share it with you to review. You can ask for changes until it feels right.

  4. Build and checks

The site is built, tested on phones and computers, and checked for speed, accessibility and the CMA price display rules.

  5. Live within six to eight weeks

    Launch and aftercare

We go live, we handle the technical move, and we stay on hand for updates and support from then on.

Hosting, ownership and support

The website is yours, entirely. Hosting, updates and ongoing support stay with us so your team never has to think about it, but nothing is held over you.

A good website is the foundation for everything else. Once it is live, it can be supported by funeral director Search Engine Optimisation so local families find you in search, and by carefully managed Google Ads when you want to reach more people in your area.

Common questions

  • How long does a new website take?

Most firms are live within six to eight weeks. We keep things moving without rushing the details that matter, and you will never be waiting on us for weeks between updates.

  • What does it cost?

It depends on the size of your firm and how many branches you have, but we keep pricing realistic for independents. We will always be upfront on our first call so you know what you are looking at before anything is agreed.

  • Do I own the website?

Yes, entirely. The site is yours. Hosting, updates and ongoing support stay with us so your team never has to think about it, but nothing is held over you.

  • Will my website meet the CMA price display rules?

Every site is designed so your Standardised Price List sits as a separate PDF no more than one click from your homepage, with a clearly labelled link, alongside space for the other information the Order requires. You stay responsible for the prices themselves.

  • Do you work with firms that have more than one branch?

Yes. We can build a single site with a page for each branch, so families see the right address, phone number and details for their nearest office.

  • Can you keep my existing domain name?

Yes. Your web address stays the same, and we handle the move so families and search engines are not left at a dead end.

  • Do I need to write all the content myself?

No. We will help shape the wording and guide you on photography. You know your firm best, so we will ask you questions and turn your answers into clear, warm pages for you to approve.
